Wilson Transformer Company manufacture a range of associated products or features for special applications that may add significant value to the end customer depending on their own unique requirement.
Some Special Applications include:
Remote Switching Solution is an easy upgrade to your existing compact MV substation, removing up front expense to nominate motorised switchgear at time of purchase. Our custom designed adaptation kits can be fitted to various types of switchgear.
Key features and benefits:
- Remote control of a switching operation from a control room
- Eliminates the risk of injury to staff responsible for switching
- Instantly identifies fault locations, helping reduce minutes off supply
- One system that can be used throughout the network in a variety of applications
- Easy installation to existing and new equipment without drilling, cutting or welding
- Modular, cost effective components that can be redeployed to new applications as required
Low Voltage Regulator (LVR) is an auto transformer with an automatic thyristor tap changing at very low voltage. The LVR regulates the system output voltage across all three phases by automatically adjusting taps to maintain the set voltage underall load and supply conditions.
Key features and benefits:
- Reduces power consumption by 5-20%
- Compact, safe and high reliability of supply
- Provides connectivity status
- Protects and increases the service life of sensitive equipment
Low Fire Risk Transformers are filled with a Fire Resistant Natural Ester dielectric coolant that has been specifically formulated for use in distribution and power transformers. Incorporating unique characteristics such as high dielectric constant, high fire point, and environmental friendliness, FR3fluid helps extend the life of transformers, reduce fire protection and substation costs, and minimisethe carbon footprint. By using FR3 and other certain design characteristics, our product is approved by FM Global which in turn allows the asset owner to reduce construction costs and benefit from reduced insurance premiums.
Key features and benefits:
- Enhances transformer performance and insulation life
- Improves fire safety
- Superior environmental profile
- Reduced insurance premiums
- Reduced overall real estate requirements
Dead Front Pole Mount Transformers offer a number of operational and safety advantage over the standard pole mount transformer, whilst affecting minimal additional cost to network
installations. The product is designed with the removal of the externally exposed HV bushings, surge diverters, and drop out expulsion fuses and carriers. The surge diverters and the magnetic switch are within the hermetically sealed tank and optimally located relative to the transformer. The resettableMagnex Switch removes the requirement for fuse replacement to re-energise a dead front transformer which minimises the time off supply in the event of an outage.
Key features and benefits:
- Reduces outages due to wildlife
- Improves bushfire mitigation as fires caused by falling debris onto live contact points are minimised
- Improves transformer and network system protection
- Reduces installation costs with fewer individual components
- Reduces minutes off supply in the event of an outage with the Magnex Switch
- Eliminates surge diverter failures attributed to corrosion or moisture ingress
Ground Accessible Conservator Bag is a safe and practical innovation for retrofitting to existing transformers to eliminate oxygen and moisture ingress through the conservator and therefore extending the life of the cellulose insulation. Ground accessible conservator bags can also be specified for new transformers if the asset owner has a preference for the bag to be accessed at ground level. Options for mounting the system to the transformer or separately to the ground adjacent to the transformer are available.
Key features and benefits:
- Improved risk management by removing the need to work at heights
- Ready access for regular inspection
- Easy disconnection of the bag during vacuum and oil processing
- Visual indication of the integrity of the preservation system using a zero centred pressure/vacuum gauge and by observation of the silica gel
